Greenway Activity Park (GAP) - Newport - County Mayo
Newport’s Greenway Activity Park is located beside Newport National School on the Glenhest Road. It was opened by Minister of State Michael Ring in July 2014. The GAP incorporates a large, floodlit astroturf pitch, multi-use games area, outdoor exercise zone and bicycle parking, and is a joint project between South West Mayo Development Company (LEADER), Newport and District Development Company (NADDCo), Mayo County Council and Newport National School, who donated the land to the community for the amenity.
The MUGA, bicycle parking and gym equipment are free for locals and visitors alike to use from 10am to 10pm daily. The astroturf pitch is reserved for the use of the national school pupils during school hours. Outside of school hours, it is available to rent.
